I’VE ALWAYS LOOKED UP TO MY BIG BROTHER AND WANTED TO DO EVERYTHING EXACTLY LIKE HIM :)
After a few broken windows and pictures in the apartment, my parents finally took me to my first club - FC Wiesendangen. We moved a lot as a family, so I didn't stay long at FC Wiesendangen. Very soon I went to FC Kollbrun-Rikon (picture), and after that to FC Turbenthal. I finally came to FC Winterthur at the age of 11. At FC Winterthur I went through all junior selections without any problems. There I rapidly improved -physically and technically.
THANKS TO THE GOOD DEVELOPMENT AT FC WINTERTHUR, THE GREAT GRASSHOPPER -CLUB ZURICH FOUND OUT ABOUT ME.
I didn't have to think long before I took my chance. With the constant support of my parents, I was able to wear the GCZ jersey for the first time at the age of 14.
The whole training and thinking strategy of the club shaped me very much in the years before my first game in the 1st team.
I’ve made a lot of constant progress with the help of additional daily training and also with the opportunity to train with the older players at an early age.
I always knew what I wanted and have always worked more than everyone else next to me to get it. My dream was to play for the 1st team and the national team and to achieve it I had to sacrifice a lot. But when the call from the assistant of the 1st team came and he asked me to train a few days in the 1st team I felt how everything was worth it. I knew that this was my chance and now is the moment to seize it!
I'VE DEBUTED WITH 16 YEARS IN THE 1ST TEAM IN THE UI CUP AND ALSO SCORED MY FIRST GOAL.
TODAY I AM SO HAPPY AND THANKFUL THAT I’VE MET MIRJANA IN THAT SMALL CLUB IN ZURICH WE GOT MARRIED AFTER BEEING TOGETHER FOR 7 YEARS. I'M PROUD TO HAVE HER AS MY WIFE AND MY BEST FRIEND!
I love to talk about football. I think that it’s inspiring how football has this unusual ability to bring the cultures together. You can play this beautiful sport with people all around the world, and no matter what language you speak, to which God you pray to or what color your skin is -- you are teammates, and you are family.
But there are a few other things I love to do too.
In my free time, you can find me in a good coffee shop with an even better book. I love reading because, among other things, helps me to stay calm and relaxed.
I'm not into trends, and I don't let the fashion own me. I think that style is the way to introduce yourself to people. To find your style, first, you have to decide who you are and what you want to express.
Don't forget that you do that not only by the way you dress but also by the way you live.
When on our holiday we love to pack our bags, invite our friends and travel someplace we've never been to before. I share with my wife passion for the road and distant locations. I think that this world is a wondrous place to live in, and I don't want to miss even a piece of it.
My first tattoo was the SMALL FOOTBALL SHOE, AND the hands gathered in PRAYER. After that, I've made some drawings that symbolize the different parts of my life and my path. I also have a lot of phrases inked on my body, which are so much more to me than just the simple words. They outline my life philosophy or the stuff I believe in and are significant to me in life.
AND I AM NOT FINISHED YET
I am grateful for every minute on the pitch. It is an honor to be able to play football, to make so many people happy with doing what I love and what I do best. But also I feel the enormous responsibility for all the trust they put in me with every game I play. I strive to be the best, not only for me but for you too.
A great thanks go to my family. You were always right beside me, and I owe you everything. I remember every second of our car rides, every encouraging word you said on my way to the practice or some big game. No matter how big or small it was you were there, and it made it even more special. You’ve never let me fall no matter how difficult It got sometimes. You were always there supporting me, making me go forward - and that I will nevermore forget.
We've spent so many hours together at home, school, football pitch dreaming about playing professionally. We grew up together, suffered together, and we were reaching our goals together! Thank you for your support!
I remember the first conversation we had. You have opened my eyes and introduced me to the life I was meant to live.
I am thankful for everything you did for me, and I am happy to be around you!
You are just amazing, and you are my daily inspiration to be a better person! Thank you for always being on my side, I love you endlessly!
